We are a group of Cambridge residents who believe that extensions to the city can and should achieve the same high quality as its historic core.

Specifically, we are urging the University of Cambridge to spare four acres of the East Paddock on the West Cambridge Site from development, to create a park. We believe this would enormously enhance the development, changing it from an industrial estate into a world-class academic campus of which the University and the city can be proud.
The organiser of the East Paddock project, Alex Reid, is a former County Councillor for the ward (Newnham) within which the West Cambridge Site lies. He read architecture at the University of Cambridge; now retired, his last job was as Director General of the Royal Institute of British Architects.
